Hey y’all – I’m Danielle of Busy Mom’s Helper! I’m the busy momma of FIVE crazy kiddos and wife to my fellow nerd and best friend. I’m here to help support my fellow busy moms and parents by sharing relatable parenting tips, recipes, crafts/diy projects, travel adventure, awesome printables and much more. Being a Dallas, Texas based mom blogger has given me a wonderful, creative outlet as I’m trying to navigate the unpredictable – and sometimes overwhelming – road of motherhood. While parenthood and marriage bring some of the most incredible rewards and unbelievable happiness possible, it does come with challenges. Let’s face it, motherhood is rough – so let’s survive together!
I’m the oldest of 5 girls, NO BOYS! My mom did an in-home daycare which I helped with growing up, then worked in during college – so I know a LOT about kids through that experience & all the training we had to do regularly. I’m the proud mom of FIVE kids – two girls and three boys. One was through foster-adoption just last year, and now we’re thrilled that our family is complete. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention our furry family members – four dogs and a ferret!
My husband and I both grew up in Utah, but moved to Dallas Texas in 2012 with all the kids in tow. It’s been hard being so far from family, and at times I’ve had to kind of ‘wing’ the parenting stuff without an experienced person to help. That’s why I love being able to share things I’ve learned – whether the easy way or through trial and error – with other parents out there who may be struggling to do their best. I try to keep it real and honest, and love the little community that’s been built!

Meet the Family Behind Busy Mom’s Helper
I actually met my incredible hubby in 2005 on Myspace (does anyone remember that?) and through the internet became best friends. Of course, we didn’t agree to meet in person because – HOW CREEPY!!! Until we realized we had a mutual friend and worked it out. You know the quote by Dr. Seuss “We are all a little weird and life is a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” That’s basically us in a nutshell.
Clayton works as a software engineer, and love everything ‘techie’ – which works out nicely, since I have an in-home tech support person! He works hard, but can really be a huge goofball, especially with the kids. His support, patience and much-needed encouragement has helped me keep this site going, and I don’t know what I’d do without this guy.
Our whole family is
obsessed in love with Star Wars, Superheroes, LEGOS and – of course – Minecraft. We also will use almost any excuse to go on a family trip, and our favorites include Disneyland/Disney World, Universal Orlando and CRUISING.
Since we’re into being yourself and ’embracing your inner nerd’, and to keep my kids a little privacy despite this site, they all go by their ‘Avengers’ names on here. Our oldest daughter goes by Songbird. She’s 12, is in 4th grade and loves animals, singing and snuggles. She has one of those giggles that can be quite contagious!
Our other girl, Black Widow, is 11 and such an artistic, intelligent bundle of smiles and sweetness! She’s currently working to get in to a local fine arts school so she can focus even more on her dancing, which is kind of her dream.
We always wanted TWO kids, so we decided to get pregnant in 2009. Surprise…TWINS!!! And boys, to boot! Adding Thor and Iron Man, now 8 years old, to our family really adds the adventure – but we love these high-energy guys to pieces!
Thor has a huge imagination and loves to build or create things – he’s always coming up with new inventions. He can be really silly and sweet, making your heart melt in a second.
Iron Man has more energy than I thought a little person could ever have, but he still does amazing at school and his dance classes – even winning awards at the last dance competition! He’s almost too smart for his own good, but is the friendliest kid in his class and loves serving others.
Since our life needed MORE surprises (note the sarcasm), when the twins were almost 18 months old, I gave birth to our youngest (and definitely last, we made sure of that with some snippity-snip on Hubby) child: Hulk! He’s such an energetic, snuggly, off-the-walls imaginative boy that tells the best stories ever – if you can keep up, that is.
And – of course – the animals: the dogs are Kita (all black – 4 1/2 years old), Tula (mixed black/white fluff – 3 1/2 years old), Leia (orange with stripes – about 15 months) and Hera (smaller, grey with stripes & huge ears – about a year). Then we have ‘Ahsoka the Jedi Ferret’ – what a silly, squeaky fur-monster!
I love my sweet ‘little’ family, and wouldn’t trade them for anything – they’re my LIFE! Plus, they definitely make sure I’m never bored.
A Few Random Tidbits
I love chocolate, Dr Pepper and snuggling in a fuzzy blanket watching shows or playing games (yes, I love HALO) with my hubby and/or kids. Even though I don’t get a lot of time for it, I absolutely love to read.
I say FABULOUS. Often. And when I do, I can’t help but hear it like this in my head:
So whenever I say it in my posts, imagine me saying it just like that.
I love to travel, whether it be with the whole family, or just hubby and I. I’ve even done a few solo-ish – like a wonderful press trip to Kauai, Hawaii last year!
I hate cleaning, yet clutter and dirt drive me INSANE! It’s a lose-lose situation.
One of My Many ‘Bad Mom’ Moments
Letting my kid fall into a public fountain – when I was RIGHT THERE next to her! I guess that, or when I had a manual vehicle and from the back seat I hear Black Widow (who was about 3 or 4 at the time) yell ‘Mom, why you drive like this’ and proceeds to rock back and forth wildy! Yes, now I only drive automatic vehicles – for ALL our sakes!
